The world’s chicest outdoor kitchen

Clive Christian Furniture, established the world over for its opulent and brilliant level of design and unequalable craftsmanship has, for the first time in its history, created an outdoor kitchen offering. Imbuing the brand’s irrefutable style and inspired design capabilities, the new design is unmistakably Clive Christian Furniture.

An ode to the prestige of living life well and reflecting the now widely-expected architectural model of ‘indoor-outdoor living’, The Garden Kitchen allows for the holistic brand experience to seamlessly operate in both contexts. Making the decision to create an outdoor offering was not one taken lightly and was the task of visionary Head of Design, Oliver Deadman, who had to augment his and the team’s thinking to that of high design, materiality and performance but in an entirely new environment, one subject to the elements.

Drawing inspiration from and deconstructing the processes, materials and techniques that have gone into creating some of the greatest and most recognisable yachts in the world, Deadman and team analysed down to the adhesive technology what learnings they could transfer to the creation of the first Clive Christian Furniture outdoor design. The Garden Kitchen, peppered throughout with nautical nuances akin to the likes of Riva yachts, has the spirit of a classical sailing or power boat, with Clive Christian Furniture flourishes making it a design statement piece.

The Garden Kitchen cabinetry reflects one of the most identifiable elements of a classic yacht in a pinstriped detailing, which has been applied to the cabinetry, echoing the deck of a boat.  Created by inlaying ebonised Iroko sections into the door and drawer fronts, this detailing showcases the brand’s expertise in marquetry and in their approach to conscious luxury when it comes to the raw materials used. A high level of materiality is inherent in a  Clive Christian Furniture design, but it must not come at the cost of the environment. Made from Iroko (whose botanical name “Chlorophora Regia” translates as Royal) it is sustainably sourced and is naturally resistant to insects and decomposition.

Yacht-grade decorative hardware including deck cleat handles, all finished in an elegant mirror polish stainless steel and subtly brandishing the Clive Christian Furniture mark, complete the impact of The Garden Kitchen. Every length has been taken to diminish the impact of the elements and to ensure the standard of finish that Clive Christian Furniture is known for the world over. The exterior and internal shelving are manufactured from the highest grade of marine ply, which has been scientifically developed to withstand outdoor elements. All internal components are marine grade, ensuring longevity and reducing the risk of corrosion.

Phil Cole, Managing Director, Clive Christian Furniture commented: “The design of The Garden Kitchen is a truly exciting evolutionary next step for Clive Christian Furniture, it is a first foray into the outdoor arena but in true brand style, it is a collection delivered with timelessness and quality at its core. The design detailing, inlay, finishes and decorative hardware implemented by Oli and the team make it an iconic piece, and one that speaks to the blended way in which our clients wish to live, with the same quality expected in all aspects of their life, whether it be in their home, in their garden or on their yacht”.

The Garden Kitchen, like all Clive Christian Furniture rooms, is designed around the client’s specific requirements, and the scale and proportion of the appliances. In this instance the kitchen is shown with an outdoor gas grill and refrigerator drawers by Sub Zero Wolf. From £30,000.
