THE NEW LUXURY CONTEMPORARY KITCHEN

Coining the statement kitchen over 40 years ago, Clive Christian Furniture is reasserting itself as the originator, creator and only option for the world’s most opulent homeowners, and for the first time in nearly a decade, the brand is releasing a brand new collection, and you’re one of the first to hear about it.

OPUS, the new classical kitchen, has been engineered to be more sustainable, which means that the cabinetry is highly adaptable and versatile, resulting in changes to facades, colours and finishes being more easily applied. After all, this is your kitchen, your style, your way. The opportunity presented in the core cabinetry design has led Head of Design Oliver Deadman to create a new body of finishes, textures, colours and design details.

“OPUS opens up a whole new level of personalisation for our clients. Like a snowflake, the definition is the same, but the look, feel, and purpose is completely unique from one to another” says Deadman.

Partnering with other British craftspeople and makers – Tom Dixon, Philip Watts and Joseph Giles – OPUS brings a new classical cabinetry design to life and celebrates British design and craftsmanship. The cabinets are available in crown cut oak, premium straight grain oak, and graphic ash. There are six new colour finishes – Elderflower, Warm Gold, Espresso, Stone, Dove, and Cinder – and two new specialist finishes, OPUS No.1 Effervesce and OPUS No.2 Ethereal.

Talking on the new finishes, Deadman added how the Effervesce finish “features carved dimple detailing and warm tones that shimmer in a warm gold finish, fooling the eye and creating a highly tactile surface, which must be touched to be understood. The styling and design of Effervesce was developed to reflect the theatre of enjoying a glass of champagne, capturing the vigour and excitement of the rising bubbles.”

Drawing inspiration from the raw material, with its natural textures, movement and grain, the Ethereal finish is “inspired by the natural formation of bark found on the European Ashtree, according to Deadman. He added “it was created to illustrate how the cool palette of finishes harmoniously combines into a central piece of art. The design features organic three dimensional ripples that span the vast heights, creating a unique silvered pattern. In the centre of the design are carved ripples flanked by chevrons of rift cut veneer and inlaid steel pinstripe – the design is extremely unique as it grows, following the scale and proportions specific to your kitchen.”

A luxury kitchen design by Clive Christian Furniture would not be complete without interior cabinetry detailing and entirely customisable features such as enhanced fresh drawers for fruit and vegetables, luxury pantries and kitchen larders, and integrated, custom knife storage facilities, and so on. Tailored to each client, there is also built-in technology for wireless charging of devices and hidden features, such as Kaleo bottle coolers, to ensure absolute ease and enjoyment.

The OPUS cabinetry, which is further embellished with Philip Watts and Joseph Giles bespoke hardware, use contrasting wood finishes, materials and colours to further reinforce Clive Christian Furniture’s reputation for exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. The brand’s signature leather soft close buffer, exclusive to the brand, is used throughout the kitchen.

The celebratory sentiment of the launch is reinforced further a special creation of an OPUS Champagne Cabinet. Devised by Deadman exclusively for the Nantwich display, the ash wood cabinet features tailored storage for champagne bottles and glassware. Integrated within the cabinet is a pioneering Kaelo instant cool ice bucket. Handmade in the Cotswolds, Kaelo uses dry-cold technology to keep a bottle within 1-2 degrees of its opening temperature – offering a whole new level of luxury and pleasure to your home.

A final note from Deadman: “I am extremely proud of the concept and design integrity behind OPUS. It was essential that we remain true to the material heritage and craft nature of Clive Christian whilst devising a contemporary lifestyle kitchen. But this is just the beginning of OPUS, and we are excited to see it launch and to continue with further designs within the collection.”
