This LOEWE Store Is Made Up of 35,536 Individual Golden Ceramic Tiles

LOEWE has unveiled its largest flagship in Asia, opening CASA LOEWE Shanghai in the heart of the city’s Jing’an District. The store is defined by a dazzling golden facade crafted from 35,536 handcrafted ceramic tiles, created in collaboration with Barcelona-based Studio Cumella. Each tile, sourced from materials found in the mountains of eastern Spain, reflects the light to transform the building into a shimmering presence on the city’s skyline.

The monolithic structure stands apart from Shanghai’s surrounding glass towers, its textured surface reminiscent of LOEWE’s signature folded leather. The golden hues also nod to the nearby Jing’an Temple, echoing the temple’s ornate gilded detailing while reimagining it in a contemporary, architectural form.

Inside, the rippling tilework continues across the interior walls, where light and material interplay to heighten the sense of space. True to LOEWE’s DNA, CASA LOEWE Shanghai merges retail with artistry, featuring a curated selection of artworks from the brand’s collection alongside its fashion and accessories.

With this opening, LOEWE not only introduces its largest Asian flagship but also reaffirms its ongoing dialogue between tradition and innovation — celebrating craftsmanship while establishing a bold new landmark in the heart of Shanghai.
