Meta Unveils AI-Enhanced Ray-Ban Smart Glasses
Meta has lifted the curtain on its most ambitious wearable yet: the Meta Ray-Ban Display. Announced at the company’s Connect conference, the new glasses mark the first time Meta has combined artificial intelligence with augmented reality in a single frame.
Designed in Ray-Ban’s iconic Wayfarer silhouette, the glasses feature a discreet heads-up display that brings messages, captions, video calls and more directly into view. The innovation promises to keep wearers present in the moment while giving them seamless access to digital information.

A standout feature is the Neural Band, a sleek wrist accessory that translates subtle hand gestures into commands. From scrolling messages to adjusting music volume, the band reads electrical signals from the nervous system, enabling precise control without voice or touch. It’s a leap toward what Meta calls the “world’s first mainstream neural interface.”
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg described the glasses as a step toward “personal superintelligence” — AI tailored to the individual. “Glasses are the ideal form factor,” he said, “because they let you stay present while giving access to AI capabilities that make you smarter, improve communication and enhance memory.”
Alongside everyday functions like photography, live translation and real-time subtitles, the glasses promise context-aware assistance such as reminders and directions. Lenses also transition seamlessly into sunglasses for outdoor wear.
The Meta Ray-Ban Display headlines a new chapter for wearables, joining two additional models revealed at Connect: an upgraded version of its existing Ray-Ban smart glasses and the high-performance Meta Oakley Vanguard built for sport.

With more than a decade of development behind them, Meta’s smart glasses are shaping up to be a defining step in how we interact with technology. As Zuckerberg put it, their adoption curve could mirror some of the most successful consumer electronics in history.
